COLOURlover wrote: My father was born in 1928... so I think that was a good year for me. :) Interesting. By the way, 1928 was the most prosperous years before depression for US and Argentina. I expect to make the palette "Year 1928" bright-colored, perhaps with some contrast with 1 black color within the palette. 1930s was still interesting. That depression was unlike nowadays. The people had optimism elsewhere--- Art Scene, Design, Eugenics. Very different from what happened since late 1950s. It's good that people are getting more rational in recent years. ![]() ![]() ![]() electroni… electroniclove escreveu: 3 semanas atrás
By the way, 1928 was the most prosperous years before depression for US and Argentina. Are you from Argentina? I'd put some bold, rich colors in the palette of the 28. Well, the coloured movies were invented during the Great Depression, so people still had hope and optimism. But anyways I'd put faded colors there. Some greens, or greys. Something like a foggy day. Maybe dark greys too. ![]() ![]() ![]() Czova Czova escreveu: 3 semanas atrás

when i think of the 30's i think of the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou - all golden yellow, and about art deco - silvers and greens, some melon colours, fiestaware. oh! and creamy translucent bakelite! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() katinasun… katinasunrise escreveu: 3 semanas atrás

I am doing research on the History of Colour of the 19th and 20th Century. That is my passion, and I am working on writing a book to that end, on the colours relating to each era. Fantastic idea, I can give you names and the meanings of the colours of 1925 onwards. I have been studying this for 5 years. Sounds like fun, I would love to help in any way. :-) I can give you some photos of items and colours used in those eras. I have also a collection of artifacts from these eras as well. GREAT IDEA. iF you would like any of this info please let me know and I can get some info together. ![]() ![]() ![]() UPtimist UPtimist escreveu: 3 semanas atrás
For me it's always been a bit of an intermission between the wars. There's (as later would be found out: premature) hope of a better future*, the failed attempt at "fixing" Germany, the recession of the thirties, and eventually the rise of you-know-what in Germany. A sort of a delusionary** belief that everything's going to be better from there on... *) well, obviously after the second war it would get better, but I'm sure you know what I mean... **) if that's even a word :P ![]() ![]() ![]() electroni… electroniclove escreveu: 3 semanas atrás
No. I'm not from Argentina. I heard Argentina was once a wealthier nation than France did back in the 1920s. Oh, I see. I was just asking because I'm Argentinian :P. Well, it was, back in those times. This is really exciting because I'm studying the Great Depression at school! those years seem rich and golden. and disjointed from our time, which gives it a sort of charm that we will never know. i imagine golds, cool browns, navys, deep maroons/magenta. it is an intriguing time. I totally second that! ![]() ![]() ![]() Czova Czova escreveu: 3 semanas atrás
